How To Reset Pontiac G5 Oil Change Minder Oil Life Light (Pursuit) – The Pontiac G5 is a passenger car, launched at the end of 2004 under the name of Pontiac Pursuit in Canada and Pontiac G4 in Mexico. In the US, it was introduced in mid-2006 under the name Pontiac G5. While this vehicle was available in Canada and Mexico both as a coupé and a four-door model (also known as “G5” since 2007), it was offered exclusively in the USA as a coupe.
Both versions were available with either a 2.2-liter or a 2.4-liter Ecotec engine. Power transmission is via a manual five-speed transmission or optionally via a four-speed automatic transmission. The weight distribution at the coupé is 60:40 and the four-door at 59:41. The G5 was produced at the factory in Lordstown, Ohio (USA). It is based on the General Motors Delta platform on which, among other things, are also the Chevrolet Cobalt, Saturn Ion, and the European Opel Astra H.

Time needed: 7 minutes
When the remaining oil life is low, the Change Oil Soon message will appear on the display. The Oil Life display must be reset after each oil change. Follow the instructions below to reset the engine oil life system on your Pontiac G5:
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position
Don’t start the engine!
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal to the floor slowly 3 times within five seconds
If the CHANGE OIL SOON light blinks, the system is resetting
- Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset
Done!
