How To Open Fuel Door On Toyota Sienna (2010-2021)

How To Open Fuel Door On Toyota Sienna

Time needed: 3 minutes

This method applies to the third and fourth generations of Toyota Sienna (2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 model years). So the first thing you want to do is:

  1. Find the fuel door release button

    So if you open up the driver’s door in this Toyota Sienna you’re going to see just on the front of the dash just above the emergency brake there’s a little button that has a gas pump icon on it

  2. Pull the fuel door release button

    Now to release the fuel door you simply pull it up or press it for the latest model. Then if you look on the side of the vehicle you’re going to notice that it pop the door open

  3. Release the gas cap

    So now you just simply turn the gas cap counterclockwise, and you can refuel your car

  4. Close the gas cap again

    When you’re finished you pull the gas cap out twist it clockwise until you hear it click. And then you know it’s tightened simply push this shut and make sure it’s tight and you’re good to go

Emergency Fuel Door Release

Have you ever imagined if your gas cap stuck or can’t be opened? To deal with this problem, Toyota equipped the 2021 Toyota Sienna with a lever to open the gas cap in an emergency. Follow these steps to access it:

  • Remove the cover of the emergency tire puncture repair kit located on the left-hand of the trunk
  • Find and then pull the lever to unlock the fuel door
