2011-2020 Ford F250 Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide

Good morning everyone! I hope you enjoy your life. Today I’m going to show you how to easily reset the oil life or oil change required light on a Ford F250, and this is a diesel engine.

Sometimes this happens after you take your truck in for an oil change and you know the shop forgets to reset the light for you or if you’re doing your own oil change and want to reset it. So stay tuned; you’ll find that out.

Here’s How You Reset Oil Life/Oil Change Light On Ford F250

It’s worth noting that the method you use will be determined by the year and type of your F250 (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022).

For 2011-2016 F250

In this section, we’re going to talk about the oil life reset on the 2016 F250. You may do this in one of two ways, depending on your instrument cluster. So let’s go and do that together.

With Display Type 1

• Get in the car and turn it on
• Since the light is showing I’m gonna hit the RESET button just to clear the message on the dash 
• Then from there you go ahead and hit the SETUP button until the “Oil Life Hold Reset = New” pops up 

• After that, I’m just gonna go ahead and press and hold the RESET button until it clears

With Display Type 2

• Put the key in the ignition and get the ignition on
• Then we’ll start by pressing the ◄ left key to get back to the main menu 

• Once you’re here you’ll scroll down to SETTINGS and use the OK key to select
• When we’re in Settings, we’ll go down to VEHICLE 
• Next, scroll down to OIL LIFE RESET and again OK to select that 
• From here you can highlight over what you’d like to reset to generally a hundred percent. So press and hold the OK key and the oil life has been reset to 100%

For 2017-2020 F250

With 2 Inch Display

• First, I’m going to turn the ignition to the on but not start the engine completely on but just to the on position
• Then we’re gonna scroll to the ◄ left and you’re gonna come to your main menu

• Next, scroll down to where it says DRIVER ASSIST and click OK on that 
• Right there you’ll go to where it say MAINTENANCE MONITOR 
• From that, you’ll scroll down and find the OIL LIFE screen
• At this point, you’re gonna hold down the OK button and as you can see the oil life has been reset

With 4/8 Inch Display

With 8 Inch Display

• First, turn the key to the right with the engine is not running 
• Then go ahead and clear any message by hitting the OK button
• Next, you’re going to want to use the left and right arrows to navigate over to the TRUCK INFO 
• From there, you scroll down to MAINTENANCE MONITOR and hit OK
• After that, select the OIL LIFE
• At this point, it says hold OK to reset, so you just do it and you’re done

For 2021-2022 F250

This is how to reset the change engine oil light on a 2021 Ford F250. We’ll be utilizing the dash screen and the buttons on the left-hand side of the steering wheel. So let’s do it.

With 8 Inch Screen (Path 1)

• Grab your keys and turn the car on
• Then we’re gonna click the left or right arrow until we reach the SETTINGS tab
• Next, enter the VEHICLE MAINTENANCE to continue
• Go down and once we’ve found the OIL LIFE, we’ll hit OK again.
• After that, press and hold the OK button to resettings the oil life

With 8 Inch Screen (Path 2)

• First insert the key and put the ignition on
• Using this keypad on the left side and where we’re going to go right now is to TRUCK INFO
• Then go down to ENGINE INFORMATION and hit OK
• Next, scroll down until we find the OIL LIFE and press OK again
• After that, we’re going to hold down the OK button to reset it
