Production of the first-generation X3, E83, started in January 2004. Three petrol engines (a 2.0i with 150 hp, a 2.5i with 192 hp and a 3.0i with 231 hp) and two diesel engines (a 2.0d with 150 hp and a 3.0d with 204 hp) were available.

Each time a tire pressure has been adjusted or change the tire, you need to reset the Flat Tire Monitor (FTM). Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the FTM on the BMW X3:
2003-2010 Models (E83)
Time needed: 7 minutes
For 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 model years, follow the instructions below if your vehicle is equipped with a Tire Pressure Set button. Follow these steps to get started:
- Stop the vehicle and turn off the engine
Make sure your vehicle is in a safe place
- Adjust the cold tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

Put the key into the ignition slot, depress the brake pedal, and then press the START/STOP ENGINE button
- Look for the Tire Pressure Set button and then press it for 5 seconds
The “Initializing FTM…” message will appear on the display
- Drive the car
The system reset is completed while the car is on the move
2011-2017 Models (F25)
In the BMW X3 (2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017), you can reset the Tire Pressure through the iDrive. Here’s how to get started:
- Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
- Press MENU button to enter the main menu
- Go to the VEHICLE INFO by using the Drive controller
- Select VEHICLE STATUS
- Select RESET or CONFIRM TYRE PRESSURE
- Start the engine but don’t drive your car
- Start the initialization using “RESET“
- Drive the car
2018-2021 Models (G01)
Just like the previous generation, you can access the tire pressure menu to reset the TPM via iDrive in the 2018 2019 2020 2021 model years. Here’s how to do it:
- Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
- Press the MENU button to enter the main menu
- Go to the MY VEHICLE by using the iDrive controller
- Select VEHICLE STATUS
- Select TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR
- Start the engine but don’t drive your car
- Select PERFORM RESET to start the initialization
- Drive the car
The TPM calibration process will complete during driving. It will finish automatically.
