TPMS Reset: Mini Cooper Tire Pressure Sensor Light (2002-2021) – Mini is a new edition of the small British car Mini created at the beginning of 2001 under the of the BMW Group. The exterior and the interior were modeled on the classic model, but the size corresponds to today’s small car.

To help drivers know the condition of their car’s tire pressure, MINI applies the TPMS system to their vehicles. The appropriate tire pressure is needed to provide comfort while driving, reduce the level of friction, and significantly improve safety while driving.

TPMS Reset: Mini Cooper Tire Pressure Sensor Light (2002-2021)

Stop the vehicle and check your car tire pressure if the TPMS indicator lights up. You must reset the TPMS system after adjusting the tire pressure. Depending on the vehicle model you have, here are a few ways to reset the TPMS on Mini Cooper:

2002-2006 Model (R50/ R52/ R53)

In this 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 model year, you can easily reset the TPMS using a button on the center console. Here’s how to do it:

  • Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
  • Start the engine
  • Press and hold the TPMS SET button until the tire indicator blinks for several seconds
  • Drive the car and the reset process will be complete without any feedback issued

2007-2012 Models (R56/ R57)

Time needed: 3 minutes

Different from the previous model, in this model (2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012) you can reset the TPMS using the BC button on the turn signal lever. Follow these instructions below:

  1. Make sure to adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

    The tire placard located on the driver’s door panel

  2. Start the engine

    Depress the clutch or brake pedals and then press the START/STOP ENGINE button

  3. Go to the SET/INFO menu by pressing the BC button repeatedly

    The button is located on the end of the turn signal lever

  4. Press and hold the BC button to enter the menu

    This will take you to the maintenance menu

  5. Press the BC button repeatedly until the TPMS symbol is displayed

    The TPMS symbol will be accompanied by RESET

  6. Hold down the BC button to execute the TPMS reset

    RESETTING message will appear in the display

  7. Drive the car

    The TPMS reset process will be complete without any feedback issued

2013-2018 Models (F55/ F56/ F57)

For 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 model year vehicles, you can access the TPMS reset menu via the Central Information Display. Here’s how to do it:

  • Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
  • Start the engine
  • From the main menu select VEHICLE INFO
  • Select VEHICLE STATUS
  • Select PERFORM RESET or RESET
  • Select PERFORM RESET again to start the initialization
  • Drive the car and the reset process will be complete without any feedback issued

2019-2021 Models (F55/ F56/ F57)

Just like the previous model, you can reset the TPMS via the Central Information Display but in a different menu. Here’s how to do it:

  • Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
  • Start the engine
  • From the main menu select MY MINI
  • Select VEHICLE STATUS
  • Select FLAT TIRE MONITOR or TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR
  • Select PERFORM RESET
  • Drive the car and the reset process will be complete without any feedback issued

This procedure should apply to the first, second, and third generations of Mini Cooper (2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 model years).
