Dodge Charger: How To Open Gas Tank Cap / Fuel Door (2006-2021) – The Dodge Charger is a model of the American car brand Dodge of which several generations appeared on several platforms. This includes the current Charger, which has been built on the LX platform since 2006.

Each generation of this car has a different way of opening the fuel door or gas tank cap. There are some models using a button or pressing the fuel filler door to open it.

2006-2010 Model Years

It’s straightforward to open the fuel/ gas tank door on the Dodge Charger (2006 2007 2008 2009 2010) because there are no buttons or levers to open it in the vehicle. Simply push the left side of the fuel filler door. It will pop open and allowing you to refuel the car.

2011-2019 Model Years

Unlike the previous model, this new model is equipped with a button to open the fuel door.

  • Press the Gas Tank Door release button
The button located on the driver’s door in the lower left-hand area
  • Open the Gas Tank Door on the left side of the vehicle

Emergency Gas Tank Cap Release

This model is also equipped with a fuel cap release emergency contained in the luggage. You can use it if you can’t open the fuel filler door. Here’s how to do it:

  • Open the trunk door
  • Remove the access cover
located on the left side inner trim panel
  • Pull the release cable

2020-2021 Model Years

Time needed: 1 minute

In this new model, you can open the gas cap in a very easy way. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Turn off the car

    Keep the vehicle in PARK and unlock the car

  2. Get out of the vehicle and find the fuel door

    The fuel door is located on the left side of the vehicle

  3. Push and release the center-rear edge of the fuel door

    It will pop open and allowing you to refuel the car

This procedure should apply to the sixth and seventh generations of the Dodge Charger (2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 model years).
