The Acorn Masterkey is a MIDI keyboard controller perfect for beginners setting up a home studio. On the Masterkey is a solid USB keyboard with assignable MIDI control to map your favourite parameters. It’s very light, but well put together and reasonably sturdy. The key action is on the light side too, and this may or may not appeal, but it’s smooth and playable. The front panel there are enough controls to hand that you won’t be short of an assigned rotary knob (there are four) for simple recording duties. There’s only one fader, but again for quick drop-ins of keyboard work you can arguably get away with reassigning what this controls as you go. Alongside the keys you have assignable pitch-bend and modulation wheels. Finally, there’s a bright red LED display with quick-toggle controls that allow you to fly through the various octave, transposing and program change functions.
According to several user reviews, they have praised Acorn Instruments Masterkey for the decent build quality, comes with Presonus Studio One Artist. Also, some users have complained it for the light key action won’t be to everyone’s taste.
