New automobiles have so many controls that it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Some automobiles have a locking mechanism on the gas cap, which might be unexpected if you’re accustomed to unlocking yours by hand. So let’s dive right in.
How to Release the Gas Cap/Fuel Door in Chevy Tahoe

The Chevy Tahoe’s gas tank button is conveniently located on the fuel door. There is no way to unlock the door from the car’s interior. So let’s go through the steps to open it.
- Go to the fuel door
Right back here on the driver’s side, you’re going to find the fuel door
- Push the door
Next, just towards the back of it, you’re going to give it a nice firm push, and the gas cap fuel door opens up
- Fill it up
There’s no actual gas cap in the new model. You’ll fill it up with fuel
- Close the door
Then when you’re done, you close this door and then push firmly to lock it back into position

I just bought a 2023 Tahoe Z71. Does Chevy make a locking gas cap, as it’s pretty easy to siphon fuel from this tank.
