When Should You Change the Engine Oil?
Your dad or grandpa might have always told you every three to five thousand miles and three to six months or something like that. But that old adage applied as a general for all cars, and all vehicles aren’t the same, and people don’t drive cars the same. So thankfully, we have the technology.
Now and most Chevy cars have an oil life monitoring system. It considers factors like engine revolutions, mileage driven, and temperatures the cars face to determine when your oil needs to be changed. Honestly, they’re getting pretty accurate, and I trust my oil life monitor, but I have limits.
So the oil life monitor starts a hundred percent, and at zero, it will tell you to change your oil, and my manual says get it to change within six hundred miles of that. Well, I go to about 20 percent. Once it’s under 20 percent, I do an oil change, and most dealers will require at least that or maybe even down to five percent with my average driving of twelve thousand miles a year.
If I were to take it down to zero, I think I get about nine thousand miles, and this is typical for many cars these days, but the oil life monitor is only as good as the person reset it.
FAQ – Chevy Traverse Service
5 quarts of oil are needed for the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse with the 2.0L inline-4 engine. Those who choose the 3.6L V6 engine in the 2019 Traverse will need 6 quarts of oil on hand.
2018 Chevrolet Traverse models require SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil. The 5 in 5W-30 refers to the oil’s thickness or viscosity at cold start speeds, the W to indicate use in cold weather, and the 30 to indicate use at average operating rates. To find GM-approved engine oil, seek out the Dexos1-approved logo.
Since P0300 is a generic and randomly generated error number, it does not specify which cylinder is misfiring. What causes cylinders to misfire on their own is less precise than a fault code that is unique to a single cylinder.
On a Chevrolet Traverse, a P062F error code indicates a problem with the vehicle’s engine control module’s long-term memory performance.
So that’s what you need to do to get to Chevy Traverse Oil Reset. This tutorial will also hold true for most of your Buick and Cadillac models that are similar to the Traverse GM models. It might even hold for some of the other models with the V6 engine. So thank you for your time, and have a good day.
