The Sienna is a large MPV produced by the Japanese manufacturer Toyota in the US for the North American market. Since 1997, he is now in his fourth generation. So this time, I will tell you how to reset the oil maintenance required light on the Toyota Sienna.
I’m going to be showing you how to reset the maintenance-required light that pops up on the dash. I finally found in the owner’s manual how to do it, basically, so let me go through the actual motions.
Table of Contents
There are 2 methods to reset the maintenance reminder on the third generation of Sienna. Please follow the following instructions according to your vehicle trim level.
Okay in this section I’m gonna show you how to reset the maintenance lights on our dash in a 2017 Toyota Sienna by using the Trip button. So the first thing you want to do is:
Time needed: 3 minutes
Today we have the 2018 Toyota Sienna I’m going to show you how to reset the maintenance-required light. Basically, you’re gonna be using the navigation button on the steering wheel. So just follow me along.
Press the START/STOP button with your foot on the brake pedal
We want to go to the sprocket on top of the menu so we’re gonna press to the right, there’s a sprocket so if you’re anywhere else on screen just keep scrolling till you get to the sprocket right there
So now we’re looking for SETTINGS, if you don’t see it just go up or down until you get to the menu
Now we’re gonna all the way down and selecting Maintenance Reset
Then it’s gonna ask you if you want to reset the reminder light, select yes and the maintenance interval will be reset
This is a 2021 Toyota Sienna Hybrid, and today we’re going to reset the oil maintenance light. Basically, it is the same as 2019 and 2020, except you use the navigation buttons on the left hand. So this is how it’s done:
For your info, this operation work for the third and fourth generations of the Toyota Sienna (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 model years). For the old one, you can find it here.
The recommended oil type for the 2022 Toyota Siena is 0W-20 synthetic oil. This oil type is only the manufacturer-recommended oil. Keep in mind that the type of oil could change depending on your car’s driving style and mileage.
Although SAE 5W-20 is legal, its lower viscosity makes it less desirable. For the most part, oil’s viscosity may be measured by its oil weight at a specific temperature. “0” or “5 refer to viscosity at starting temperature, respectively. To put it another way, this implies that 5W-20 is at a disadvantage regarding engine wear. If your manufacturer recommends using the oil with the lowest number possible, you should always follow their advice.
Engine oil is an important component in your engine it lubricates moving car parts. Because oil and filters do not last forever, they should be changed every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.
If the master warning light comes on and flashes it indicates that the system has detected a malfunction. Please do not drive your car, pull over to a safe place, call a tow truck, and have your car brought to the dealer for proper diagnosis.
So that’s it. This could be done by yourself in a garage. You don’t need to take it to the dealer. They’ll charge you about half an hour which is, I think, 65 bucks, but you can see there’s no more message on the screen the car is running no more maintenance required light. This procedure, like I said, should work on most Toyota and Lexus. So thanks for reading and have a great day!
