Hello there, daddy cool! So today, on this Jeep Renegade, we’re going to reset the oil change due to light. It’s a pretty simple procedure, and it’s common on many Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler models.
So we’ve done the oil change, and now we need to reset the oil change indicator. And when you turn your Jeep on, you’ll see that it says oil change required. So now, to be able to figure out how to fix that just follow this operation.
Jeep Renegade Oil Change Due Minder Light Reset Guide
Time needed: 3 minutes
This is a 2015 Jeep Renegade, and recently I had my oil changed, and of course, my alerts have been on, so I’m going to get that reset. So what you want to do first is
- Turn the ignition to the RUN position
If you have the version with the Start/Stop button you’re gonna press the START button twice without step on the brake pedal so that everything comes on but the engine stays off
- Depress the GAS PEDAL slowly three times
Now you need to press and release the Gas pedal three times within 10 seconds and it’s gonna reset your oil light
- Verify the indicator has been reset
Now you can turn the ignition off and then start the engine to confirm that everything is done
For your info, this operation work for the first generations of the Jeep Renegade (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 model years).
That’s all about it. So now, when you start the car, the oil change alert will be gone. So there’s no message there telling me I need to change the oil. I’ve already taken care of that, and it’ll do the same thing for you; if you have that alert popping up, just let you know that if you change your oil, you can fix that. So thanks for reading and see you next time.
It doesn’t work. I work in a Jeep service dept. Both the Support desk “STAR” and my TA have informed me the only way to reset the oil indicator is through the IPC, miscellaneous function. Ya got to plug them in take my word for it.
What diagnostic tool is able to reset the service light?
I have a 2016 with push button start and it does work. The directions are wrong. You press the start button once, not twice as noted. Then follow the rest of the procedure.
