2014-2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek Oil Service Light Reset Guide

Hi, Subaru fam! How are you getting along? Today, we’ve done some essential maintenance on my Crosstrek that has just hit 5,000 miles. So I’m going to reset the maintenance service light on my Subaru XV Crosstrek after the first oil change.

Some people like to change their oil every three months or six months, but I don’t bother with that. I drive enough, so I’m going to set this to 10,000 because we’re using an excellent synthetic oil on this one. So come with me and stay tuned.

Subaru XV Crosstrek Oil Service Light Reset Guide

2014-2015 Subaru Crosstrek

Time needed: 3 minutes

Alright, we’re going to be taking a look at my wife’s 2015 Crosstrek. It’s the first oil change, and now we need to reset the service light. So the first thing you should do is:

Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START button two times without stepping on the brake pedal
Go to Selection Screen
Then we’re going to be focusing on the center monitor and by using the ▲or▼ button here and we want to get over to this screen
Press and hold the ⓘ/SET button
Next, hold the SET button down until it gets to the Selection Screen
Get the MAINTENANCE
Now using these keys up, down and the middle is your enter pulling towards you to select MAINTENANCE
Select the Engine Oil
From there you can set oil filter, tires, or engine oil all that stuff but honestly, it’s just going to be more stuff to reset later. I mean really you don’t need to know much more besides just the engine oil and tires. I always go just by looking at them not so much mileage-based, I mean it does depend on your driving style and obviously, oil filter and engine oil are going to always be changed at the same time. So no sense giving you more work for later
Adjust the interval
At this point, you can set the date. So you would just select it to pick how many kilometers you want by going up or down
Select SET
Once you are done with that you can go to SET and you’re done

First, just turn the car on
Then we’re gonna navigate through this center screen and click the ▲or▼ button until you get to this screen

Next, hold the ENTER button for three seconds

Notice that the screen pops up and we’re going to the MAINTENANCE by navigating through the three buttons. So click up or down to scroll through the menu and then click the middle one up to select
Right here you’ll select the ENGINE OIL
When you come to this screen, you can adjust the date and distance of the reminder and then select SET to confirm

So that’s how you reset on this car (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 model years). Hopefully, this helps people who never reset this light before or have forgotten how to reset this oil reminder on Subaru. Thanks for joining me today, and have a great day.
