Regularly changing your vehicle’s oil can help keep it running smoothly for many years. GMC recommends changing your vehicle’s oil once a year on average. The owner’s manual found the recommended service interval for your GMC Sierra 1500. Checking the oil level can help identify problems before they become major concerns. The following table lists the recommended oil change intervals for your GMC. If your vehicle is running hot or poorly, it may be time to schedule an oil change.
In 2013, GM re-calibrated the oil-change interval to include a mileage parameter. This means the oil life indicator in the GMC Sierra jumps from a previous percentage of oil life left to 20% at 5,000 miles. Some believe that GM made this change because they had found a negative correlation between a longer oil change interval and engine performance. Oil change intervals for GMC Sierra vary according to the model year.
Every 6,000 miles, your GMC Sierra 1500 will need an oil change. During this service, the technician will check the oil level and replace the filter if necessary. They will also rotate the tires for even wear. Moreover, your GMC Sierra will need to replace its passenger compartment air filter and transfer case fluid. This service is essential if you choose to drive a front-wheel-drive GMC Sierra.
5W-30 full synthetic oil is required for the 2013 GMC Sierra. However, 5W-30 synthetic oils aren’t all the same. To fulfill GMC’s Dexos1 specification, only the most refined 5W-30 oils are acceptable.
The 2013 GMC Sierra is available with a variety of engine options. The oil capacity for the 4.3 liter V6 is 4.5 US quarts. In comparison, the 4.8l engine is 6 US quarts. This is also true of the Sierra’s three greatest engines, the 5.3l V8, the 6.0l V8, and the 6.2l V8; all need 6 quarts of engine oil.
So that’s it straightforward process on GMC Sierra Oil Reset. It only takes a few minutes, but it is essential to change your oil when it’s scheduled.
