Whatcha up to, dude? This is a step-by-step guide to reset oil life, oil change, or service light on the Ford Kuga. This content will cover additional information and tips that may help you with your oil reset. It’s pretty simple, and we’ll do this quickly and easily.
The oil life monitor actually tells drivers, based on their driving habits and vehicle operating conditions, when to change the oil through simple communications on the dash. So you need to change the engine oil when you see that message and reset the system afterward. So with that being said, let’s get to it.

Time needed: 3 minutes
Here we have a 2017 Ford Kuga, and we’ll show you how to reset the oil life meter in this vehicle. We’ll be using that push-to-start button along with the brake in the gas pedal to reset it. So let’s get into it now.
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START/STOP button one time without step on any pedal
Then push and hold both the brake and gas pedals all the way to the floor at the same time
Once you do so, you’ll see the oil reset in progress show up. Keep holding the pedals, and you’ll just wait until this switches to the oil reset procedure complete
Once that such as you’re good to go you can then start the vehicle, and you’ll no longer get the oil life reminder
This section will show you how to reset the oil light for this new Kuga. If in the past, you would use a left directional pad to control the screen, but now you’re gonna be using the pad on the right side to control the screen. So let’s try to do it.
For your info, this operation work for the first, second, and third generations of the Ford Kuga (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 model years).
If you are looking for a vehicle that will last longer, an intelligent oil life monitor could be the solution you are looking for. The monitor measures the engine oil’s temperature and considers driving habits to determine how long the oil will last. Ford engineers even take the operating characteristics of your vehicle into account. Whether you drive your car every day or drive it several hundred miles a week, your Ford should have an oil life monitor that keeps your engine performing at optimal levels.
If you’re looking for a new car, you might wonder if you need to change your oil every few thousand miles. Ford’s new Intelligent Oil Life Calculator takes all the driving data into account and can automatically calculate your next oil change. It can also send you a notification when it’s time. In addition, you don’t need to remember to change the oil since the car will let you know when you’re close to the recommended oil change. Ford recommends changing the oil every 3,000 miles or 5,000 miles, which is far more than adequate.
The system uses an algorithm to estimate the length of oil life based on climate and driving habits. Temperature and engine load play a significant role in oil degradation. If you drive a lot and drive quickly, you’ll generate enough water and oil contaminants to increase the likelihood of premature oil change. It also considers ethanol and adjusts the interval based on those factors. Using this information, Ford’s Intelligent Oil Life Calculation is more accurate and reliable than ever before.
The Ford Intelligent Oil Life Monitor is an engine system that tracks how long it has been since your last oil change. The system notifies you when it is time to change your oil based on the engine’s temperature and surrounding environment. In addition to temperature, many factors play a part in determining oil life. Driving frequently, frequent cold starts and overheating contribute to shorter oil life. Fortunately, the Ford Intelligent Oil Life Monitor considers all of this.
The Ford Intelligent Oil Life Monitor generally suggests changing your oil every seven to ten thousand miles or 12,100 to sixteen thousand kilometers. However, there are circumstances when you may need to change your oil sooner, such as driving in freezing temperatures or towing to maximum capacity. Many automakers follow similar patterns when it comes to oil changes. While some oil life monitors are more accurate than others, following a recommended schedule is still a good idea.
The 2017 Ford Kuga with its base engine, the 1.5L EcoBoost, needs 4 liters of oil. But if you have an optional 2.0L EcoBoost engine you need 5.4 liters of oil.
Ford recommends using only an oil that meets the WSS-M2C946-A specification. The SAE classification 5W-30 is the best engine oil for the 2015 Ford Kuga.
So that’s how you reset the oil change or service light in the Ford Kuga. Alright, guys, hopefully, that was easy enough and can help you out. Feel free to comment below with any additional information or tips that may be helpful to others. So thank you for your time today, and have a great day.

Hi, Just successfully performed an oil change reset on my Ford Kuga 2017.
Many thanks for the info...it worked!!
Only concern is that my vehicle handbook explains a reset procedure that would appear to refer to a later model year...ie. 2020 onwards!
