How To Reset Pontiac G8 Service Engine Oil Minder Light (2008-2009) – The G8 was based on General Motors’s Zeta floor, which was created by Holden for the Commodore VE. The G8 differed from the Holden model mainly for the front-end design and for some details of the interior. At the Detroit Motor Show, the chairman of General Motors stated that the group would have had the intention to import the Holden Commodore in North America as the Pontiac G8. The decision was officially announced at the Chicago Car Show in February of the same year.
Holden’s president announced that the G8 would be imported from the Elizabeth plant in southern Australia, but refused comment on a possible production at Oshawa, Canada. At the Chicago Motor Show, General Motors President announced that the G8 would be available at dealers early in 2008. On July 4, 2007, he left the production chain of Elizabeth’s production plant, the first prototype of the G8. Series production began on December 18, 2007.

Time needed: 7 minutes
When the remaining oil life is low, the Change Oil Soon message will appear on the display. The Oil Life display must be reset after each oil change. Follow the instructions below to reset the engine oil life system on your Pontiac G8:
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position
Don’t start the engine!
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal to the floor slowly 3 times within five seconds
If the CHANGE OIL SOON light blinks, the system is resetting
- Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset
