What’s going on, guys? I recently changed the oil on my 2007 Chevy Cobalt, and I need to reset the oil life. There are a couple of ways to do it using the info and the return buttons and by stepping on the gas pedal three times.
All right, before we continue, I want to let you know this content will be done just to share with you the knowledge or what we learned. So you can try both because the last time I did it with the buttons, I want to try that one this time to see if it works.

In this section, we’re going to reset the oil life cycle monitor that’s in the dash. So now I’ll show you how to do that.
You’re not going to start the car, you’re just going to put it on the accessory mode
Press and hold the INFO button and the ⏎ button at the same time for two seconds to enter the PERSONALIZATION menu
Once the display changes you hit the INFO button a couple of times till we get to Oil Life Reset screen
After that, hold down the ⏎ button until the ACKNOWLEDGED is displayed and the oil life system has been reset
Another way to do it on the Cobalt is really quick we’re going to turn the key on and then step on the GAS pedal to the floor three times which will also reset the oil life. So you got two ways to do it.
For your info, this operation work for the first generation of the Chevy Cobalt (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 model years).
You can keep your Chevrolet Cobalt running smoothly by having your engine oil changed regularly. The oil in your car is vital for the engine’s proper functioning, as it lubricates essential parts. The oil capacity for the Chevy Cobalt with 2.2L or 2.0L engine is 5 quarts.
5W-30 synthetic motor oil is recommended for Chevy Cobalt engines.
Engine oil change intervals for the Chevy Cobalt are normally every 7,500 miles or every year if you’re using the suggested synthetic oil.

OMGoodness I’m so happy I found this information! I’m a little anal and just got my oil changed only that warning keeps coming “CHANGE OIL SOON”…it’s gone now and I so appreciate the help! I don’t know a thing about cars, and would love to know any other secrets my Chevy Cobalt is hiding?! I have an issue with my gas cap, so I got a new one, yet my check engine light stays on. I would love it if THAT could be reset as well!!
