|Last Updated on November 23, 2023 by Nick
The Odyssey is a van that Honda offers in its version in North America. In 2004, the third generation of the US Odyssey with the type code “RL3” came onto the market. Today I want to share with you how to reset the oil life maintenance light on the Honda Odyssey in this post.
So when you see the cluster says that is what replaces the percentage of oil life left, you know usually you’ll say 90% 80% 50% oil life left. But when you get to zero, it just starts counting the miles past the oil change. So mine did 93 miles ago, and today I’m going to show you how to reset that light since I just did my oil change. So let’s get into it now.

Resetting Oil Life in Honda Odyssey with Cluster Knob
Time needed: 3 minutes
There are 2 ways to reset the oil life on a Honda Odyssey. In this section, we’ll show you how to reset the oil life indicator on Honda Odyssey 2005 to 2011 model with the cluster knob method. The first step you want to do is:
- Turn on the car without starting the engine
Put the key in the ignition slot and like you’re going to turn it on but don’t turn it on all the way just turn it to the accessory mode
- Press the Select/Reset knob repeatedly until the “Remaining Oil Life” appears on the display
The next thing you do is press the little button on the cluster until that screen word showed you the remaining oil life
- Press and hold the Select/Reset knob
Then with that little button that I just pressed on there, we’re going to hold that down for 10 seconds. The oil life percentage will begin to blink and bring you to reset mode
- Release it and hold it again for 5 seconds
The oil life will reset to 100% and no more amber light

Yellow Wrench Light Mean
So today, when I turned on my engine, the wrench light came on. That wrench means that you have a service due soon or it’s service due now.
So you want to look at the numbers and the letter on the odometer of your 2007 Honda Odyssey. For example, my odometer says oil life is 15%, and the service maintenance code is B1. The B1 code means that you must do more than an oil change but most of the maintenance. For the B1, it’s just an inspection.
The A code is for replacing just the engine oil. For the B code, you will need to do an engine oil replacement, an inspection of brakes, and you will have to inspect the parking brake as well, and then inspect the tire, the tie rod ends, steering gearbox, and boots. Inspect suspension components, Inspect drive shaft boots, inspect brake hoses and lines, inspect all fluid levels and condition fluids, inspect exhaust system, and inspect fuel lines and connection.
So those are the codes that you want to check. In your manual, you’ll have the symbol code also. And here’s the explanation:
- Code 1 means rotating tires.
- Code 2 means you must replace the air filter and inspect your drive belt.
- Code 3 you want to replace your transmission fluid
- Code 4 you need to replace your spark plugs and replace the timing belt, and what water pump
- Code 5 means that you have to replace your engine coolant
