My Meriva just started giving me this symbol here, which is the car with a spanner inside. It’s basically a maintenance reminder, and there is a corresponding code in 82.

So if you look at your car’s manual, you should be able to find the page with the codes. The page says this code 82 is for changing the engine oil. So if you have this symbol, nothing to be scared about. I’ve changed the oil on this car, and the mechanic didn’t have this symbol removed or reset. So let’s go ahead now and try to reset it for ourselves.

How To Reset Oil Service Light On Opel/Vauxhall Meriva (Code 82)

For your info, this operation work for the first and second generations of the Opel/Vauxhall Meriva (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 model years).

For Meriva A (2003-2009)

So when you switch on your Vauxhall Meriva A, it’ll show you the INSP light which is the inspection light. So here’s the way to reset it:

First, we need to switch the ignition off
Then while holding the TRIP button on the dash we need to turn on the ignition without cranking the engine

Keep hold that button and when it’s flashing that means it’s resetting and when it is completed it will show you for how long you’ve got your next inspection

For Meriva B (2010-2017)

With Upper Display

Time needed: 3 minutes

In this section, I will show you how to reset the service light on this Vauxhall Meriva with the button on the end of the stalk; which most of them do have that setting on there. So all we need to do on this model is:

First, turn on the ignition
Don’t start the engine!
Go to the Oil Life screen
Then press the MENU button on the turn signal stalk until you can see that there is an oil pan with the percentage
Hold down the SET/CLR button
Next, we’re gonna press the SET/CLR button on the end of the stalk and hold as the beep and oil life will reset to 100%

With Basic Display

This short guide will show you how to reset your Vauxhall Meriva service and this one is without the buttons on the stalk which quite confuses quite a lot of people. There are a few different options, this one uses the trip button and the brake pedal. So here’s how it’s done:

First, turn the ignition on to stage two
Then we’re going to use the little TRIP button on the dash and you just hold that button till you see your oil life percentage
Once you get on that screen, put your foot on the brake and then keep that pressed

After that, you need to press and hold the little TRIP button and you’ll hear a little tone so it will reset to 100%
