How To Reset Maintenance Required Light On Toyota FJ Cruiser (2007-2014)
|Last Updated on August 28, 2022 by Nick
Bing bing! How’s it going? Today I want to share something with you real quick because there’s some misinformation on the internet about how to reset the maintenance required light on a Toyota FJ Cruiser. I think it works through all the year models for 2007 to 2014.
So the original instructions I’ve seen in two or three places say to put this on TRIP A; that is not the case; there’s TRIP B, and then you have your standard Odometer. I don’t know if they thought that was Trip A or what, but it’s actually the odometer reading that is where it needs to be, really, guys. Trust me, this works.

2007-2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Maintenance Required Light Reset
Time needed: 3 minutes
All right we’re in the Toyota FJ Cruiser, and now we’ll show you the correct way to reset the maintenance light. So here’s how it’s done:
- Stick the key in and turn it to the on position
Turn your switch so that you don’t crank the vehicle, just turn the switch on
- Make sure it’s in the ODO reading
Then we’re going to make sure we’re on the ODO field. So if you press the ODO/TRIP button, it’s going to go Trip A, Trip B, and back to ODO so you can leave it on this
- Turn off your car
Turn it all the way off
- Press and hold the ODO/TRIP button as you turn on the car
After that, you need to hold the ODO/TRIP button that I’m holding right here, and then you just turn your switch to the on position
- Continue to hold down the button
Keep holding it and you’ll see a series of bars and they’ll start disappearing and once they disappear they’ll go to zero so that’ll reset everything
For your info, this operation work for the US version of the Toyota FJ Cruiser (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 model years).
Toyota FJ Cruiser Maintenance Service
If you are planning to drive your Toyota FJ Cruiser for an extended time, you must know when to take it in for maintenance service. You can check the vehicle’s dashboard to see when the engine needs serviced. It will blink and flash for around 12 seconds after you turn the ignition on. This light is a warning sign that you need to change the oil. Changing the oil at regular intervals is very important because if the oil level is too low, it will cause more damage to the engine and moving parts. If you can do this task independently, you can avoid spending money on a mechanic.
This vehicle is an excellent choice if you’re looking for an off-road SUV. Its high seating position and wide pillars provide a high level of front visibility. The posts and spare tire limit rear visibility, but more giant side mirrors will improve your visibility. However, some back passengers have complained about the comfort of the seats, which don’t lay flat, despite being removable.
Keeping your Toyota FJ Cruiser on a maintenance schedule is crucial for its longevity and performance. While you can drive the FJ Cruiser for a long time without a significant overhaul, regular servicing is a bright idea to ensure that your car lasts for many years. Frequent oil changes, tire rotations, brake pad replacement, and filter changes are just a few of the maintenance steps you should schedule to keep your Toyota FJ Cruiser on the road.
