We’re not going to start the vehicle up. So you just turn the key until you get to accessory mode
Then press on the Car Info button and you’re going to cycle through it until you see your percentage of oil life on the screen
Once you get there you hold the ✓ checkmark button down for a few seconds and then you’ll see it kind of change will see a change from whatever it is so one hundred percent
For your info, this operation work for the first generations of the Chevrolet Express (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 model years).
So in this section, I will give you some tips that could help you understand oil changes and when to change engine oil. All the companies recommend changing engine oil to ten thousand kilometers or fifteen thousand kilometers, but this is not a good suggestion. The engine oil life purely depends on the driving conditions the car has been through.
Suppose you drive your car daily in city traffics and congested areas. The engine will turn more compared to the wheel. Also, the stress and temperature will be on the higher side. In this condition life of engine oil will be on the short side compared to the distance traveled.
So it would be best if you rearranged the oil change interval to the shortest time. Similarly, if you drive primarily on highways, the engine turned to the distance traveled will be less, and the stress and temperature on the engine will be on the lower side. Considering all the conditions, an oil change between 6000 kilometers to 7500 kilometers will be optimum for a city vehicle.
The Chevy Express with a Vortec 4300 V6 engine requires 4.5 quarts of engine oil, whereas the Vortec 4800, 5300, and 6000 with a V8 each need 6 quarts. On the other hand, the Duramax 6.6L engine can hold 10.4 quarts of oil.
To get the most out of your engine, it is advised that you use fully synthetic oil, like Chevy uses, and choose 5W-30.
The Vortec 4300 V6 can hold 11 quarts of engine coolant when the rear heater is not installed and 14 quarts when installed. A total of 13.4 quarts of radiator coolant are required for the Vortec 4800 and 5300 V8s when the rear heater isn’t around and 16.4 quarts when it is. Last but not least, fuel consumption for the Vortec 6000 V8 is 13.8 quarts without the rear heater and 17 quarts with it.
You should expect to pay between $130 and $150 for labor and parts associated with changing the oil in your Chevrolet Express.
So that’s how you reset oil life or oil change light in Chevy Express. Hopefully, it helps you guys out a lot because that’s what I’m here for.
