How To Reset Oil Life/Maintenance Light On Honda HR-V (2016-2025)

Good morning, everyone! Wake up and be awesome! Today I’m going to show you how to reset the maintenance light or the oil life on a Honda HR-V. It’s very simple, and It’s a lot the same as many Honda cars.
Frequently when you go to these oil change places, or even you go to the dealerships for some reason, they just skip their mind to go into to reset the oil life. So let’s go inside and reset the oil life.
For your info, this operation work for the second generation of the Honda HR-V (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 model years).

2016-2022 Honda HR-V Oil Life Reset Guide (Cluster Method)
- Turn it all the way on and so the lights are on
- Once everything’s powered up, you’re gonna need to use the TRIP knob on top the clusters and you’re gonna hit it till you get to the OIL LIFE
- Then you need to hold the TRIP knob down for 10 seconds till the oil life start to blink
- After that, you can let go of the knob and then you need to hold it again for another 5 seconds and it’ll stop blinking and the oil life will reset to 100%
2016-2022 Honda HR-V Maintenance Reset Guide (Steering Method)
Time needed: 3 minutes
In this section, I will show you how to reset the oil life in this HRV in a different way. We’re going to use the steering wheel handle right here and have a button select button and down button there. So let’s see how it’s done.
- Switch the ignition over to the on position
First, hit the engine start button twice but I’m not starting the car so I don’t have my foot on the brake
- Go to the VEHICLE SETTINGS
Then you’re going to be using these toggles on the steering wheel and you’re going to switch through until you get to VEHICLE SETTINGS
- Pull the SEL/RESET button
Next, you’re going to pull the middle or SEL/RESET button to select
- Find the MAINTENANCE INFO
After that, you’re going to scroll all the way to MAINTENANCE INFO and you’re going to select that
- Select RESET
At this point, you gonna scroll down one time to reset and then pull the SEL/RESET button to confirm it
2023-2025 HRV Cluster Method
All right, this section will show you how to reset the maintenance light on the third generation of the Honda HRV. So the way you reset is
- Step 1: Push the start button twice to get all the ignition on without starting the car
- Step 2: Press the HOME button on the steering to bring you to the main menu
- Step 3: Roll the Left Selector Wheel to find the Spanner menu and pressing it to enter the menu
- Step 4: When you see the oil life screen, hold down the Selector Wheel for about 10 seconds to bring you to the MAINTENANCE RESET menu
- Step 5: Scroll down to all due items and press the wheel to confirm the reset and you’re done
2023-2025 HRV Touchscreen Method
If the cluster method does not work for you, you can also use the touch screen. So let’s hop over to it
- Step 1: Start by clicking the home button on the center display to get the main menu
- Step 2: Scroll to the right and tap on the vehicle settings menu
- Step 3: Find and select Maintenance Info menu
- Step 4: Now select reset items
- Step 5: Next, you can either choose all due items or just oil and filter
- Step 6: Finally, select reset to confirm and that is going to reset your oil life
