How To Reset Oil Life Light On Ford Five Hundred/500 (2005-2007)

With Steering Button

Time needed: 3 minutes

Alright, we’re in a Ford 500 today. This one is 2005, and I’m going to be resetting the oil life and on it. When we do reset it, we’re going to use the buttons on the lower side of the right side of the steering wheel. You’ll locate the Setup and Reset button. So now all you need to do is:

Turn the key on
Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position
Go to the PRESS RESET TO SYSTEM CHECK screen
Then hit Setup a few times and it’s going to bring us to the PRESS RESET TO SYSTEM CHECK screen
Press the RESET button
When it gets to that screen, hit RESET and then like it says OIL LIFE XX% HOLD RESET IF NEW
Hold down the RESET button
So go ahead and hold down the RESET button and you’ll see IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET message
Press and hold the RESET button again
Once you see IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET, hold it down one more time and it will set to 100%

With Trip Button

For those model that doesn’t have the steering button, you can use the Trip button on the dash to reset the oil life. So let’s go ahead now and try it for ourselves.

With the key on, scroll the menu with the TRIP button until you reach to the OIL LIFE screen

When you come to that screen, you just hold the TRIP button and it’ll start blinking and then it’ll say 100%
Once you done with that, you can start the car to confirm that everything is done
