2005-2007 Ford Freestyle Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide

Good morning, Ford lover! Today I’m going to show you how to reset the oil life or oil change light on this Ford Freestyle. So when we’re going to turn the ignition to the on position and when you look closely right there on the cluster, it says oil life zero percent, and then on the bottom, it says change oil.

So if you have this message displaying on your instrument cluster, I’m going to show you how to reset it. But you have to reset this light after changing your oil, okay. So let’s crack on and get into the procedure.

2005-2007 Ford Freestyle Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide

With Steering Button

Time needed: 3 minutes

So to clear the oil change light, we’re going to have to locate two buttons on the steering wheel that say SETUP and RESET. Those buttons are on the right side of the steering wheel, just right below the big buttons. So let’s go ahead and get started.

Turn the key on
First, we’re gonna start the car
Clear any message
Then we’ll clear the message by pressing the button that says RESET
Go to the PRESS RESET FOR SYSTEM CHECK screen
After that, you’ll see the mileage and then you’re going to press the SETUP button until it says Press Reset For System Check
Press the RESET button
Next, you press the RESET button to get in
Press the RESET button again
After pressing the reset button, it’s going to show you the oil life percentage, and now you’re gonna press the RESET button again and it’ll say If New Oil Hold Reset
Hold down the RESET button
At this point, I’m gonna hold the RESET button and so right there the oil life has been set up to 100%

With Cluster Button

I just did do an oil change on the 2005 Ford Freestyle but the oil light was still turning on. So I did figure it out on the manual and my car doesn’t have the preset buttons on the steering wheel. So if the oil light still keeps coming on, all you have to do is:

Get in the car and turn it on
Then press the ODO button on the dash and you’re going to push it until it says OIL LIFE

Once you came to the oil life, you went ahead and hold it down for a few seconds till it set to 100%
