How To Reset Oil Life Light On GMC Terrain After Oil Change (2010-2017)

Hi, folks! What is going on? Today we’re going to do a reset oil life light on the GMC Terrain. There’s only about 25% oil life remaining, and I’ve done with the oil change. So now is better a good time to get it done, and we’ll go through it.
By the way, this is one of the easiest vehicles and engines I’ve ever done oil changes on. So if you own one of these, I’d highly recommend you learn how to do this yourself because it will save you a lot of money in the long run. So without further ado, let’s get right up in this.

GMC Terrain Oil Life Reset With DIC Button
Time needed: 3 minutes
This section will show you how to reset the oil life on the first generation of the GMC Terrain. This should cover the years for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017. So here we go.
- Get in the car and turn it on
First, turn the ignition key on without starting the vehicle
- Go to the VEHICLE INFORMATION screen
Then you’re going to come over to the middle screen and you’re gonna push the MENU button until it gives you a VEHICLE INFORMATION screen
- Scroll down to the OIL LIFE
From there you want to find the remaining Oil Life by using the ▲or▼ button
- Hold down the SET/CLR button
Once you get there, you’re gonna press and hold the SET/CLR button and it’s gonna say are you sure want to reset
- Select YES
To reset it you’re gonna use the up arrow button to YES and then we’re going to hit the SET/CLR button and as you could see it went to a hundred percent
GMC Terrain Oil Life Reset With Gas Pedal
The oil life system can also be reset as follows:
- Turn the key to the on-position
- Once everything lights up what you’re going to want to do is mesh the GAS pedal all the way to the floor three times
- It will reset your oil life, so now you can your car to confirm that everything is done
