Here’s How You Open Fuel Door/Gas Cap On Hyundai Elantra (2010-2022)

Hello everyone! Have you ever tried to fill up a rental automobile at a gas station but failed because you couldn’t figure out how to open the fuel door? Or does it seem like that to you right now? Don’t worry; in today’s post, I will show you real quick how to open the gas cap or fuel door in a Hyundai Elantra.

This basic knowledge is often overlooked. Everyone, even experienced tourists, seemed unaware of this small nugget of wisdom. So stick on here; I will show you how to do it.

How To Open Fuel Door/Gas Cap On Hyundai Elantra

Time needed: 1 minute

To access the gas tank on a Hyundai Elantra, you have to look for the lever that releases the tank door. This is for a 2020 Elantra, but it will be the same for many years (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022). So here we go.

  1. Look under the driver’s seat

You’ll notice that the gas cap doesn’t just open by itself and so in order to open it you’re going to go right next to the driver’s seat

  2. Pull the gas door release lever

There’s a lever with a gas pump icon, you need to pull that, and then you’ll notice that the gas door is now open

  3. Open the fuel cap

To refuel, it literally just pulls it open and then unscrew the cap so you can fill it up

  4. Close the gas tank door

Once it did, you’re going to close it and get it locked into position

How To Figure Out Where The Gas Tank Position

In addition, we’d like to provide some pointers for finding the gas tank position without leaving the car. Stop at the gas station without hesitation and it will be easier with this trick.

So there is a handy tiny triangle on the side of the small gasoline pump emblem on the dash that tells you which side of the car you should fill up. You can tell where the fuel door is situated by looking at the small triangle.

So that was pretty much a short post on how to open the fuel door/gas cap on this car. Thank you so much for coming to my site and having a great day.
