Initialize the Yamaha CP1 to Factory Preset

Yamaha’s CP designation first launched in the ’70s, on electronic stage pianos but more famously on the electro-acoustic CP60, CP70, and CP80, which used real strings and hammers but pickups in place of a soundboard. As with the recently-launched Roland V Piano, the Yamaha CP1 uses modelling technology (combined with sampling) to capture the nuances of a real piano. Looks-wise, the CP1 is utilitarian yet classy. It has a textured metal case with black/brown wooden end panels, a brushed aluminium panel housing the switches and a faux-leatherette top suitable for standing a laptop or small second keyboard on.

According to several user reviews, they have praised a Yamaha CP1 for the quality keyboard action and classy construction; Rhodes and Wurlitzer Performances are musically involving and rewarding; SCM technology overcomes any obvious sample-switching; Multiple assignable pedal inputs. Also, some users have complained it for the acoustic piano decay and sympathetic resonance are unconvincing; Dual-part sound-production architecture seems curiously redundant; MIDI control features are restrictive and buried in the editing system; in a flightcase, you’ll need roadies to help you move it!
