Hey, what’s up, guys? Today, we will show you how to reset the oil life light on my Chevy HHR after an oil change. So now I’m going to show you step by step what you need to do, and we’re going to start with obviously the things you need.
You can do your own research in two different ways: you can do it with the buttons on the steering wheel or just press the gas pedal. So here, let me show you do it.
Table of Contents
Time needed: 3 minutes
So here we are inside the Chevy HHR, and we’ve done the oil change. This is 2006, but pretty much all HHR is the same thing. Here’s a simple and easy way you can change your oil life counter like so.
You don’t need to start the engine, just put the key to position 2
Then you’re gonna hold down the INFO button and the ⏎ button at the same time to enter the PERSONALIZATION menu for about five seconds
When we come through you got scroll through by using the INFO button until you get to the Oil Life Reset screen
Once you get to that screen, press and hold the ⏎ button until the ACKNOWLEDGED is displayed. This means to tell you the system has been reset
Okay, so I’ve shown you the first way to reset the oil by using the steering buttons. So now I’m going to show you the other way to do it so.
First, you’re going to turn the car to the run position. And then you’re going to press the Gas/Accelerator pedal down and let it off three times within five seconds, and that will reset once you restart.
For your info, this operation work for the first generation of the Chevy HHR (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 model years).
The manufacturer has designed the Chevrolet HHR maintenance intervals for its 2011 model. Depending on the vehicle, maintenance can vary by make and model. Some cars require maintenance yearly, while others can go much longer between significant repairs. To maximize the life of your HHR, it is essential to keep up with scheduled maintenance. In addition to keeping your car in good working condition, proper care will improve safety and reduce the risk of common problems.
To maximize the life of your Chevrolet HHR, you must know the correct Chevrolet HHR maintenance intervals. It would be best if you had your car serviced at least once every two years or at least every seven years. A Chevy HHR can last up to 200,000 miles. Changing the oil every 5,000 miles is highly recommended, but you can always use the highest-quality oil to increase the engine’s life.
Several common Chevy HHR transmission issues may occur, and this section will examine some of them. You likely have transmission problems if you’ve recently bought a new HHR. In particular, you may have been experiencing intermittent stalling while driving. While the stalling may not be life-threatening, it can be highly annoying and inconvenient. Many owners have reported having this problem, especially after servicing the vehicle.
One common issue with the transmission is slipping, usually due to different reasons. One of the most common causes is that the transmission fluid becomes dirty, which can lead to various transmission problems. If you’ve noticed a change in the transmission fluid, your transmission is likely having issues. You can also check the transmission trouble codes to see if you’re experiencing this problem.
SAE 5W-30 is the best viscosity grade for the Chevy HHR, and this car requires the use of 5.0 quarts of motor oil.
The evap emission control is malfunctioning by the underhood bussed electrical center. A malfunctioning solenoid is most likely to blame. You should expect to spend anything from $68 to $125 for a new one if it breaks down.
It takes 7 quarts of transmission fluid to fill the automatic transmission in the Chevy HHR. In comparison, the manual transmission requires 1.7 quarts. You should replace your transmission fluid with Dexron VI ATF, a synthetic fluid. When you replace your car’s oil, be sure to check the transmission fluid as well.
So that’s it, and you’re all done. That way is probably easier. I did it the other way because I’ve done it on other vehicles that don’t have these functionalities on the steering wheel. So thanks for reading, and have a great day!
