How To Reset Oil Life/Service Light On Kia Soul (2020-2022)
|Last Updated on October 15, 2021 by Nick
What’s up, everyone! Today I’m going to show you how to reset the oil life or service light on a 2020 Kia Soul. This is a 2020 model here, but it will be the same in a few different years (2021/2022).
This vehicle has come upon a service interval, and you’ll have that from time to time with any car you’re going to have service intervals. You know it all depends on whether you’re doing an oil change, whether you’re checking over the vehicle to make sure other things aren’t bad. So let’s go ahead and get into the content.
How To Reset Oil Life/Service Light On Kia Soul (2020-2022)
Time needed: 3 minutes
In this section, we’re gonna reset the oil service in my Kia Soul. I’m gonna show you guys how to do it properly. So let’s get it going.
- Turn on your car
First, you need the car running or the ignition in the on position
- Highlight the ⚙️ USER SETTINGS
Then we’re going to come over to the steering wheel and we’re going to press the ❏ button until you have the ⚙️ User Settings highlighted
- Go to the SERVICE INTERVAL
Once that’s highlighted we’re going to use the ▼ button to scroll down and we’re going to scroll down until the Service Interval is highlighted and then we’re gonna press OK
- Hold down the OK button
Now it’s going to say mileage and a time before your next service. To reset it we’re going to press and hold down this OK button and keep holding it down until we get this message here it says reset time and distance
- Select YES
To confirm it we will highlight YES and then click OK once
On some models of these, they allowed you to change the mileage interval. It’ll bring you into a menu that will enable you to either turn off your service intervals or change their frequency. I’ve tried on our model, and it doesn’t let us.
I don’t know if that’s just in the programming of the vehicle. So yours maybe like this: the service interval can be turned on, and you cannot adjust. Otherwise, you’ll click into it, and you’ll be able to get to a menu point where you can adjust that service interval.
So there you go. It’s pretty basic, you can do it with the engine running, or you can also do it with the engine off. It will work either way, but it’s not just resetting that light for oil changes. It’s also for checking over the vehicle and making sure you don’t have bad things. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and see you next time.
My 2020 Soul S has the line “Enable Service alerts” with a box that was checked. This let me go down one more line and set service intervals, mileage and months. I figured since the box was checked, there must be a way to uncheck it and get rid of the notices. There was. I did it accidentally, it was on that screen. I think I went down one more line and pressed OK. Regardless, it was there, and simple. When I had the box unchecked, the line setting the mileage/months was grayed out and inaccessible.
