Filter Forge Tips

Photoshop is an outstanding editor, able to produce the best images, high quality video, and can even render images 3d effect.  To be able to do all that, photoshop plugin requires support that can assist in the editing process. One of the plugins it is Filter Forge.

Filter Forge is a high-end plugin for Adobe Photoshop and compatible hosts. It allows photographers to apply various effects that improve their work, such as sepia, aging or rigidity. All effects are adjustable, resolution-independent, and support real-world HDRI lighting. Filer Forge offers thousands of effects filters, covers almost all applications are filters that can be used. Being able to make photos with a variety of different styles.

How to import filters from previous version?

To transfer the library filters from FF3 to FF4 you need to copy Library.xml, LibraryStructure.xml and Library\ 

For MAC: 
from 
/Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 3/System 
to 
/Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 4/System 

For WINDOWS: 
from 
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 3\System\ 
to 
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 4\System\ 

To transfer user-made filters, environments and custom presets you need to copy the corresponding folders: 

For MAC: 

from 
/Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 3/ 
to 
/Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 4/ 

For WINDOWS:

 from 
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 3\ 
to 
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 4\ 

How to make Filter Forge work with Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X2 or X3?

  • Start Corel PaintShop Photo Pro, go to File > Preferences > File Locations, select PlugIns, clickAdd and point to one of the following plugin folders:
    • C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\X2\PSPClassic\Plug-ins (for a 32-bit Windows)
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\X2\PSPClassic\Plug-ins (for a 64-bit Windows)
