Hey Hot Thing! You set this place on fire. Today we’ve done an oil change on this KIA Sportage and just a general overall inspection. So now I’ll show you how to reset the oil service required light on this Kia Sportage.

This is a very approachable job. You don’t need any tool or diagnostic scanner to reset it. It’s somewhere excellent to start if you’re getting into working on your own vehicle, and it’s a great way to save money. So stick on here; I will show you how to do it.

For your info, this operation work for the fourth and fifth generations of the Kia Sportage (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 model years).

How To Reset The Service Light

Time needed: 3 minutes

I’ve got a 2017 Kia Sportage and as you can see these service required warning is on on the dash. So now I’m going to show you in this section how to reset that. So let’s go ahead.

  1. First, you’re gonna put the ignition on 

    If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START button two times without step on any pedal

  2. Go to the 🔧 spanner tab menu

    Then after the system check, we will use the ❏ MENU button until you’re gonna get to the 🔧 tab menu

  3. Find the SERVICE reminder screen

    If the service reminder is not there you can use the ▼ down button to find it

  4. Hold down the OK button

    Once you get that screen now you just need to hold the OK button to reset 

How To Adjust The Service Interval

You can also adjust the service interval for another thousand or whatever you want to put it. So here’s what we’re gonna do:

  • Switch the ignition over to the on position
  • Then you’re gonna press the ❏ Menu button on the steering and go to that little gear ⚙️ it’s called USER SETTINGS
  • Next, you go down to SERVICE INTERVAL and select that by pushing OK
  • After that, you’re gonna go down to ADJUST INTERVAL and you just click on it
  • From there, you can change the mileage of when it runs out and how many months you want it to run to
  • You can use the ▲or▼ button to adjust the digit and press the OK to confirm it
