Hey, Subaru fam! How’s your weekend going? Today I’ve done a bunch of service on my Subaru Forester. One is an engine oil and filter change, so now I will show you how to reset the service minder or oil change light on Subaru Forester.
So I thought, you know what? I’ll go ahead and make this content just in case someone else is struggling with that. If you want to see how I will deal with it, stay with me in this post.

All right, so I’m sitting in a 2016 Forester just to show you how to reset your maintenance notifications. All you’ll do is use the toggle on the steering wheel with the center display. So here’s how it’s done.
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the Start/Stop button two times without stepping on the brake pedal
Then I’m gonna scroll down using the ▲ or ▼ arrows until I get to this screen and it says “Pull and hold the SET button to move to the selection screen”
So I’m just gonna pull and hold on to that middle button until that top screen changes
Next, I’m just gonna hit the down arrow until I get to MAINTENANCE and then again I’m going to pull the SET button to select that
From there you should have four options in the center display Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Tires, and Maintenance Schedule. Select which one you want to reset and press SET
At this point, you can type in the remaining mileage or the time until the next maintenance light should pop up
Once you are done with that gonna go down to SET and you’re done
For your info, this operation work for the fourth generation of the Subaru Forester (2014, 2015, and 2016 model years).
2016 Subaru Forester non-turbo models require SAE 0W-20 fully synthetic oil. But if your car has a 2.0-liter turbo engine, SAE 5W-30 is the recommended grade. Avoid using 0W-20 in your turbo Forester since it may not offer adequate lubrication and cause engine failure.
The oil capacity for the 2.5-liter four-cylinder that does not have a turbocharger is 5.1 quarts, whereas the turbocharged version requires 5.4 quarts.
So that’s how easy it is to reset the oil on a Subaru Forester. Put the feedback in the comment box for me to make this site better for you all. So more or less, I’ll catch you up later. Anyway, thank you for your time; I hope you enjoy it.
