2013-2016 Cadillac SRX Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide

Hello, good morning, guys! Today we are resetting the oil life or oil change light on our Cadillac SRX. There are two ways of doing it and would be the same or very similar on any Cadillac SRX from 2013 to 2016.

By the way, the warning light in the dash tells you every 3,000 miles, but this oil is good for every 5,000 miles if you use synthetic oil, but I always changed my car every 4,000 miles. It will give you a little bit of extra room there to play. So let’s get into it now.

2013-2016 Cadillac SRX Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide

For your info, there are two ways to reset it and this guide will be valid for the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 model years.

Dash Screen Method

Time needed: 3 minutes

Alright, we have a 2016 Cadillac SRX, and we’re going to reset the maintenance light. You’re going to use the buttons on the steering wheel to navigate through the dash screen. So the first step you need to do is:

  1. Turn on your car

Start the vehicle with push the START button and then your main screen is going to come up

  2. Go to the left or right screen

Then you can go to the left side or right side screen by using the directional pad on the steering wheel

  3. Scroll down to the REMAINING OIL LIFE

At this point what you want to do is just use the toggle down button to get the OIL LIFE on the left or the right side doesn’t matter as long as you have it on the menu

  4. Press and hold the SEL button

When you come to that screen, you just push and hold the SEL button down for about five seconds or until you hear the beep and the oil life reset to 100%

Gas Pedal Method

So there are two different ways you can reset the oil change reminder. The other way is to have the car on but not starting the engine just has the electronics on and then you want to pump your GAS pedal three times slowly and that will reset your oil life.

So as simple as that, you reset it. Although the dash on here will say to do it in 3,000 miles, I think it will be fine to do it every 4,000 and should be ready to roll. So anyhow, thank you for joining me today. I hope this content helps you out. I’ll keep updating you with more information, and I really appreciate your reading.
