|Last Updated on February 23, 2022 by Nick
Hey yo, Skoda lover! Today I’m going to show you how to reset the oil service or inspection light on a Skoda Fabia. It’s an older model, and we’ve done an oil change for the car, and I’m going to show you how to service reset this manually.
So you will see a service reminder coming up every time you start the car. If you’ve had your service done and they’ve forgotten to reset it, or you’ve serviced it yourself, this is the procedure.

It’s worth noting that the method you use will be determined by the year and type of your car (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 model years).
Fabia MK1 (1999-2005)
- First, with the ignition off press and hold the TRIP knob on the dash and then turn the ignition on
- As soon as it does, you’ll see OIL on the dash, and then if you turn the knob to the right the service OIL lights will go out
- After that, you’ll press the knob again and you’ll see INSP
- To reset this Inspection light you’ll turn the knob clockwise again and you’re done
Fabia MK2 (2006-2009)
- First, press and hold the TRIP knob on the dash when the ignition off
- Then, turn the ignition on and release the button
- When you see a wrench icon on the display, turn the knob clockwise
- Now turn the ignition off and check if the service reminder is gone
Fabia MK2 (2010-2014)
With Cluster Button
- With the key in the off position, you’ll hold down the 0.0 button
- After that, turn the key on while you’re still holding it down
- Then when all the lights come on you’ll let go of that one and then press the ❏ button on the left one so then your light will reset
- Now if we start the car as you can see we no longer have a service light
With Lever Button
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, we got a Fabia MK2. If you have this setup that says service now on there, use the stalk on the right with the Trip up and down buttons and then the OK button underneath. So let’s get to it.
- Get in the car and turn it up
Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position
- Go to the MAIN MENU
Then press and hold the ▲ UP button and you’ll get the Main Menu display on the dashboard
- Get to the SETTINGS or SETUP
Next, you’ll press down to get to the SETTINGS or SETUP option and press OK to get in
- Find the SERVICE
From there you’ll go into SERVICE or SERVICE INTERVAL
- Select RESET
The next thing you want to do is go to the RESET
- Confirm it
A prompt will come on saying whether you want to reset it? Then you press the OK to confirm it
Fabia MK3 (2015-2020)
- Start with turning the ignition off
- Then press and hold this 0.0/SET button while turning the ignition on
- If you just wait you’ll get a RESET OIL SERVICE message come up but if you wait longer the message will change to RESET SERVICE INSPECTION and you’ll release the button
- As soon as it does, you’ll press the button again and it’ll say service interval reset
So that pretty much wraps it up. I hope it was informative for you. If you have any questions, let me know, and I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible. Thank you so much for coming along on my site, and have a great day.
Been trying to sort this all day, they didn’t do it at the garage. Yours is the first correct one for the fabia mk3. Keep holding to get past the oil and get into the service, everyone else says to press again which doesn’t work. Thanks
