Hello, Bimmers! How are you?! I just wanted to make a short content on resetting the oil service light on the BMW 5-Series E60 (535xi 528i). There are many videos on YouTube, but all of them are very complicated. I’m not sure why but it’s actually very simple.

When the maintenance service is due, the service minder will appear on the dash. So let’s assume you’ve done the oil change, and I will show you how to reset these service requirements.

2003-2010 BMW 5-Series E60 Oil Service Light Reset Guide (535xi 528i)

BMW 5-Series E60/E61 Oil Service Light Reset Guide

Time needed: 3 minutes

This section will show you how to reset the engine oil service interval on the BMW 5-Series E60 (535xi 528i). You can also do the same thing with a brake pad, or you can do it with some of those service codes. So let’s try to do it.

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

So the first thing you’re gonna do is put the key in and then I’m going to press the START button two times but do not put your foot on the brake down below

  2. Hold down the RESET button

Then what we’re going to do is you press the TRIP button and you hold it now until you get the service menu

  3. Find the ENGINE OIL

At this point, you can toggle through all these menus by the same button. So you keep toggling through keep pushing a button till you find the ENGINE OIL

  4. Press and hold the RESET button

Once you get to the right one and now you push and hold the TRIP button and you’ll see RESET?

  5. Press the button again

Let it go and hold it again to confirm the reset

For your info, this operation work for the BMW 5-Series E60/E61 (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 model years).

So that’s the way to do guys. I hope that helped you. Please do make sure you come back for the next one. Be sure to share it, and don’t forget to drop me a line below, ask you any questions if you have any questions on that. Anyway, thanks for your time and see you next time.
