We already did it right after the oil change, but we decided to make a post-it this time to guide you on how to do that. So the indicator in the dashboard will probably show a three percent, five percent, or something like that, but we’re going to reset it back to 100. So now we’ll get started here.

With Gas Pedal
Alright, here’s the fastest way to you reset oil life in this Buick LaCrosse. It’s fairly easy, the main thing is to make sure that the engine is not running when you do this.
So all you have to do is key on and then step on the accelerator three times within five seconds and it’ll reset. Then watch for that light to blink when that light finishes blinking it’s reset to 100% and you’re done.
With DIC Button
- The first thing we do is we put the key in the ignition switch and we’re going to turn it on without turning the engine on
- Then what we’re going to do is we’re going to go to the GAGES button and keep pushing it until we find the OIL LIFE percentage
- So in order to change it back to 100 what we’re going to do is, we’re going to press the ⏎ ENTER button and hold it till you see 100%
- Once you see the 100 on the display you can let go of the button and you are done
- At this point, you can turn off the switch again and you are complete
2010-2013 LaCrosse
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, we’re in the Buick LaCrosse. This one’s 2010, and I’m going to show you how to reset the oil light on this one. We’re going to utilize the Menu button, and the second button we’re going to need is the SET/CLR button on the left stalk. So let’s get into the car to try to do it.
- Turn the key on
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START button with step on the brake pedal
- Get to the VEHICLE INFORMATION MENU
With the MENU button and hit that until you get to the VEHICLE INFORMATION MENU
- Scroll down to the OIL LIFE
Then you would turn and scroll until you come right up to the Oil Life Reset
- Hold down the SET/CLR button
Next, I’m going to push in the SET/CLR button and it’s going to say do are you sure you want to reset?
- Select YES to confirm
So I’m going to actually scroll up using this thumbwheel to go to YES and then I’m going to hit the SET/CLR button so that takes care of it
So that’s it, and you’re all done. If you drop me a line, I will be more than happy to talk to anybody about anything. Thank you so much for coming along on my site, and have a great day.
