Reset Yamaha MX61 61 Key Music Synthesizer

Yamaha is well known for its powerful workstation keyboards, but it has also recently started to develop instruments designed for the more mobile or space-conscious musician. Its MX series combines a range of functions into a portable package and draws sounds from the bigger MOTIF XS series. As the newest edition to Yamaha’s synth series, the entry level MX range is priced to sell. At just 4.8kg’s (10lbs), it’s one of the most portable 61-note boards around and regular giggers will no doubt welcome this. Build quality isn’t bad for the money but the case is plastic throughout, you’ll probably want to grab a flightcase to protect your investment.

According to several user reviews, they have praised a Yamaha MX61 for the sound quality and variety virtually identical to Motif XS, including VCM effects; One-touch split and layer; Very easy to use; Works as a control surface for most DAWs. Also, some users have complained it for the two-line LCD makes changes on the fly harder to do quickly; Splits and layers limited to two parts in the absence of an external sequencer or software editor; No user-selectable velocity curves.

Factory Reset:

To restoring Yamaha MX61 to it’s factory settings, first press [UTILITY] button, and then press [JOB] button. Select “02:FactrySet,” by using the cursor [∧]/[∨] buttons and press [ENTER] button. Press [ENTER] button again when “Job Factory Set” appears in the display. When the display ask you “Are You Sure?”, press [INC/YES] to confirm “Yes” and to execute the function.

Warning! When you execute “Factory Reset”, all the Performance, User Voice, and system settings in the Utility display you created will be erased. Before you perform this operation, check whether there is any data you want to keep. This procedure also applies to the MX49 unit.
