2007-2011 Models

Time needed: 7 minutes

If you have 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 GMC Canyon, you can reset the TPMS by increasing or decreasing the tire pressure without a tool. Follow these instructions to get started:

  1. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the Engine Start/Stop button without touching the brake pedal

  2. Turn the exterior lamp switch from AUTO to OFF 4 times within 3 seconds

    The horn will sound twice and the TPMS low tire warning light starts blinking indicates the TPMS matching process has started

  3. Activate the TPMS sensor

    Start from the driver side front tire, remove the valve cap, and then increasing or decreasing the tire’s air pressure until a horn chirp sounds

  4. Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire

    A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset

  5. Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire

    The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message will disappear

  6. Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

2012 Model

Unlike the previous model year, you’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in this 2012 model years. Here’s how to do it:

  • Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
  • Turn the exterior lamp switch from AUTO to OFF 4 times within 3 seconds
  • Start from the driver side front tire, place the TPMS Relearn Tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
  • A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
  • Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
  • Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
  • Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

2015-2021 Models

Just like the previous model, you’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in this latest GMC Canyon model year. Depending on your vehicle trim level, there are 2 ways to do this. Follow these steps to do it:

With Lever Button

  • Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
  • Press the MENU button briefly until you see the VEHICLE tab menu on the display

  • Press and hold the SET/CLR button until the horn sounds twice

  • Press the ◄ navigation button to access the cluster applications

  • Scroll down to the TIRE PRESSURE menu
  • Press and hold the ✓ button to enter the relearn mode

  • A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
  • Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
