If you replacing a spare tire with a road tire containing the TPMS sensor on your Chevy Trailblazer, the system will detect a malfunction and the low tire pressure warning light will blink. When that happens, the TPMS sensor reset process must be done. Depending on the vehicle model you have, here are a few ways to reset the TPMS.
2006-2009 Models (SUV)
Time needed: 7 minutes
If you have 2006 2007 2008 2009 Trailblazer, you can reset the TPMS by increasing or decreasing the tire pressure without a tool. Follow these instructions to get started:
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the Engine Start/Stop button without touching the brake pedal
- Turn the exterior lamp switch from OFF to PARKING lamps 4 times within 3 seconds
The horn will sound twice and the TPMS low tire warning light starts blinking indicates the TPMS matching process has started
- Activate the TPMS sensor
Start from the driver side front tire, remove the valve cap, and then increasing or decreasing the tire’s air pressure until a horn chirp sounds
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message will disappear
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

2020-2021 Models (Crossover)
Unlike the previous model year, you’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in this 2020 2021 model years. Depending on your vehicle trim level, there are 2 ways to do this. Follow these steps to do it:
Base Level Display
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
- Go to the VEHICLE tab menu by using the SELECT button on the turn signal lever or the ◄ ► navigation button on the steering wheel
- Scroll down to the “TIRE PRESSURE LEARN” menu
- Press and hold the ✓ button or thumbwheel until the horn sounds twice
- Start from the driver side front tire, place the TPMS Relearn Tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
- A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
Uplevel Display
- Press and holds the ENGINE START/STOP button for 5 seconds without touching the brake pedal
- Go to the (i) INFORMATION menu tab by using the SELECT button on the turn signal lever or the ◄ ► navigation button on the steering wheel
- Scroll down to the TIRE PRESSURE menu
- Press and hold the ✓ button or thumbwheel to enter the relearn mode
- Start from the driver side front tire, place the TPMS Relearn Tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
- A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
