Hello everyone, today I will show you how to reset the service minder or oil change light on our Audi A6. This is the same process for the S6, S4, and other models. So it’s pretty easy to do; you don’t need to use any diagnostic tool or the OBD readers for that. You can do it manually by yourself.
I don’t want to waste your time here. If you’re going to reset the actual service interval or inspection light, that has got to be done by a diagnostic tool, but this simple reset will take the oil light off if it’s just flagging up for an oil change due. So let me just show you what it’s doing.

What oil should I use in my Audi A6?
Your Audi’s engine is a complex powertrain that requires specially formulated motor oil. Keeping your engine properly lubricated depends on using the right oil and changing the oil and filter at the intervals recommended by the manufacturer.
Oil for engines may be made in various viscosities to accommodate multiple motors. Choose a viscosity grade that’s right for your engine based on the gasoline you use, the make and model of your vehicle, and the weather and seasons you typically drive in. Oil with a viscosity of SAE 5W-40 is suitable for gasoline engines in all climates and driving circumstances.
However, 5W-30 or any viscosity grade that satisfies the appropriate Audi oil quality requirement can be used in its place. Diesel engines use SAE 5W-30 motor oil. If you own an Audi A6, you should always have an additional quart (liter) of engine oil on hand if you ever find yourself in a town without a supply.
Although it is essential to be sure that the oil you use in your engine meets the quality standards specified by the manufacturer, many commercially available lubricants now meet several criteria. Compliant motor oils assist in maintaining your car’s engine operating smoothly and free of hazardous deposits that can accumulate over time and lead to costly repairs. So don’t forget to change your oil!
