How To Reset Oil Service Light On BMW X4 F26/G02 (2014-2024)

Hey Buddy! Wazzup? This will be a short how-to post on how to reset the oil service light on a BMW X4 F26/G02. So in this content, I will tell you guys some tricks to get to the reset menu on this car.

Here we’ve got a 2017 BMW X4 M40i, and I’m just doing the service on it. So as soon as you start the car, we’ve got our service for 5,000 miles, and now we’re going to be resetting the service light.

For your info, this operation work for the first and second generations of the BMW X4 F26/G02 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 model years).

2014-2018 BMW X4 (F26) Oil Light Reset

Time needed: 3 minutes

We’re located inside the BMW X4 right now, and the vehicle key is located inside the interior as well, and the hood has to be closed. So let’s start the reset procedure.

Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
The first thing you’re going to do is push the START button two times and the dash will completely illuminate and then all the warning lights will go out
Hold down the RESET button
The process has started somewhere at this point there’s a RESET button on the left-hand side of the instrument cluster and I’m going to push and hold it then the service menu will come up
Find the ENGINE OIL
When you’re inside the service menu you’ll let go of the button and you can hit it and cycle through all the vehicle services items. So you’re going to highlight the service that you want to reset
Press and hold the RESET button
To reset it, you need to push and hold the button till it says reset with the question mark
Release and then hold it again
After that, you’ll let go and then push and hold again and once the reset and progress bar comes up you can go ahead and let it finish till it says reset successfully

2019-2020 BMW X4 (G02) Service Light Reset

First you hit the START button three times in succession to get into the Diagnostic Mode
There’s going to be a 0.0 button on the dash and if you can see in the left corner you just hold that down for a few seconds to bring you to service menu

At this point you can go through the different options hitting that button but we want to reset the ENGINE OIL at this time
If that light was ready to be reset you’d hold the same button
When it asks you to reset, you just press and hold it again till it notice the bars go across and you’re done

2021-2024 BMW X4 (G02) Oil Light Reset

To reset the oil service light on the 2021 to 2024 BMW X4 is a little different from the previous model year. You need to use the BC button to do this. So the way you reset is.

Step 1

Hit the START button three times rapidly and wait until Diagnostic Mode Active pops up on the display

Step 2

After that, hold down the BC button on the turn signal lever for 15 seconds until you see the service menu

Step 3

Now the next step, press the BC button repeatedly to find the ENGINE OIL menu

Step 4

Once you get there, hold down the BC button until RESET appears on the screen

Step 5

Finally, hold down BC button one more time and wait until the reset progress bar finishes and you’re done.
