How To Reset Oil Service Light On Land Rover Discovery 3/LR3 (2004-2009)

Last Updated on November 23, 2021 by Nick

Good morning Rover fam! In this post, we will talk about how to do oil service light reset the right way on this Land Rover Discovery 3 or LR3 (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 model years). You don’t need any tools to do this service reset anyway.

Since we go off-roading a lot and pick up a lot of dust and dirt, it’s essential to stay on top of oil changes and keep the car as reliable as possible. So let’s get to work.

Time needed: 3 minutes

This is how to reset your service reminder on a Land Rover Discovery 3 and any of the land rovers with this particular dash setup. So the way we’re going to do it is:

  1. Press and hold the TRIP button

With the key out, I’m gonna holding in the TRIP button
    service required light reset

  2. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

As you keep holding it you’ll put the key in and turn the ignition on

  3. Once it does we’re going to let the service light blink

Keep pressing the TRIP button until the SERVICE indicator starts flashing and wait until it stops flashing

  4. Release the TRIP button

When it stops blinking we’re going to let the button go

  5. Scroll to the DIST or DATE screen

At this point, you’ll see the DATE or DISTance. You can switch them by pressing the TRIP button briefly

  6. Hold down the TRIP button

Now we’re going to hold down the TRIP button on the DATE first until it gets to RESET

  7. Release and hold it again

After that, we’re going to let go and hold down on it again to reset

  8. Reset the DISTANCE

Now for the DISTANCE, we’re going to hold down on that so it says RESET again, let go and hold down on it again

So that’s just what I call to reset it yourself. It took me a little bit under a minute, and I saved some bucks, plus I get a big pat on the back to do it myself like you. I appreciate your reading. Suppose you have any questions feel free to me up. So thanks for your time and have a nice day.
