What’s going on, guys? So yesterday, when I was driving, the maintenance required a light turned on, and I want to reset it. But then I thought that I’m sure some of you guys don’t know why it’s coming on and how to reset it. So that’s why I want to show you how to reset the maintenance required light on Scion tC.
The maintenance required lights coming on is that it’s programmed to come on every 5,000 miles and reminds you that you need to change your engine oil. So when the light comes on, it’s telling you that you need to service your car.

2005-2010 Scion tC Maintenance Required Light Reset Guide
- Get in the car and turn it on
- Make sure your odometer is set to display the letters ODO. So press the ODO/TRIP button to get it
- Next turn off the car
- After that, press and hold the ODO/TRIP button while turning the ignition switch to the on position again without starting the engine
- Keep hold the button and you’re gonna get five dashed lines but it’s gonna start counting down so they’re gonna start fading out
- Now you can let go and as you can tell the maintenance required light turned off as well
How To Reset in 2011-2016 Scion tC

Okay, today we have a 2012 Scion tC, and we’re going to learn how to reset the maintenance required light on it. So what you’re going to want to do is:
- Turn on your car
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the Start/Stop button two times without stepping on the brake pedal
- Set the odometer to the TRIP A
Press the ODO/TRIP button briefly until you get to the TRIP A
- Turn the key off
Press the Start/Stop button once to turn it off
- Hold the stick down and then turn the ignition on
Press and hold the ODO/TRIP button down and you’re gonna want to flip your key to the on position again. So it’s basically just turning on your car but without the motor running
- Keep holding the ODO/TRIP button
Continue to hold down the ODO/TRIP and wait for the dashes are going to go across and the zeros to disappear and then you can release it and the light is reset
