Hello, Toyota fam? How’s your weekend going? Today I’m going to show you how to do a basic service on a Toyota Hilux. What we’re going to do is we’re just going to reset the service light after an oil change on the Toyota Hilux.
Nothing over the top, but it’s going to be quite a short content because I’m going to show you step by step and I’m not going to leave anything out. So if you’re at home and you’re not sure about how to service your own vehicle, this is good content because I’ll do a step-by-step show you how to do this thing.

Alright, this is how to reset the oil maintenance required light on a Toyota Hilux pickup. What we’ll need is the ignition and the knob on the dash. So let me do that right now.
So we’ll start with turning the ignition on and letting it cycle through everything
Now need you to see TRIP A in the dash. If TRIP A is not showing keep pressing the ODO/TRIP button until TRIP A shows
Once TRIP A in there you turn the ignition off
After that, you’ll need to push and hold the ODO/TRIP button and then turn the ignition on without starting the engine
Keep holding it down and you’ll see all those bars count down as soon as they’re all done it turns zero and it should be reset
For your info, this operation work for the seventh and eighth generations of the Toyota Hilux (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 model years).
You need to know what kind of oil and how much to acquire before you run out and replace your engine’s oil.
To get the most refined engine oil for your Hilux, you must first realize that there are several possibilities. Toyota suggests using SAE 0W-20 engine oil for petrol engines and SAE 5W-30 oil for diesel engines, both of which are high-quality synthetic or synthetic blends. Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
While shopping for new oil, ensure you get enough to fill your car’s oil reservoir. Doing otherwise can cause expensive engine problems down the line. The oil capacity for the 2020 Toyota Hilux with a Gasoline engine is 5.9 quarts or around 5.8 liters. To maintain the Diesel model, you’ll use 7.9 quarts (or 7.5 liters) of oil.
Now that wraps up today’s Toyota Hilux Service Reset. I hope this helps you and I hope this saves you some money. If you’ve got a Hilux, but you do not sure and do not have the confidence to do it yourself, I hope this content sort of shows you enough detail of what to look for. So thanks for your time and good luck.
