2010-2022 Land Rover Discovery LR4 Service Required Light Reset Guide

Last Updated on November 23, 2021 by Nick

Hey, mister! What is going on? Today I’m working on a Land Rover Discovery or LR4 service required light reset. The oil change is done, but the service required light is still on, so I have to reset that.

I’ve actually done this quite a few times, and for some reason, every time I do it, it never seems to take, or it takes quite a few times to get it to stop telling you that service is required. So now I’ll take you along and show you how it’s done.

For your info, this guide will be valid for the Land Rover Discovery L319/L462 (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 model years).

2010-2016 Land Rover LR4 (L319)

  • With the car is off open the driver’s side door and pop the hood
  • Then pushing the START button once,  but not actually running it
  • Now I’m going to push the BRAKE pedal and the GAS pedal at the same time for about 60 seconds
  • If you don’t want to count time just wait till it stopped beeping then you know it’s been a little over 60 seconds
  • There is no indication that it’s doing anything. So once you are done with that, you need to check to verify that the service required reminder is gone. So I’m gonna start the car and verify that the service required reminder is no longer there

2017-2022 Land Rover Discovery (L462)

Time needed: 3 minutes

This section will show you how to reset the service light on the new Land Rover Discovery L462. You must do all this with the driver’s side door and the hood being open. So let’s go for it.

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

First off you want to turn the ignition on but you don’t want to start the car

  2. Open the bonnet and the driver’s side door

When the ignition is on you need to open the bonnet or the hood then you’ll want to open the driver’s side door

  3. Step on the ACCELERATOR and the BRAKE pedals

After that, you press the Brake and the Accelerator pedal completely and hold it

  4. Keep holding the pedals

The service resetting should appear in the display after a couple of seconds and once it disappears you can release both pedals and you’re done

Alright, guys, thanks so much for your time. I hope you learned a little bit about Discovery 4 today. Stay tuned for a lot more content, and we’ll see you on the next one.
