Time needed: 1 minute

In this section, I will show you how to open the fuel filler door in your Audi A1. So let me guide you through the procedure.

  1. Unlocked your car

The fuel filler cap won’t open unless the car is unlocked. So make sure your vehicle is unlocked.

  2. Push the fuel filler door

To open the fuel filler door, push it, and it will pop out.

  3. Open the fuel filler cap

Then to undo the fuel filler cap, it’s just a 90-degree turn anti-clockwise

  4. Close the cap and fuel door

Once you’ve filled it up, you can slot it into those grooves and turn it clockwise 90 degrees to lock it in.

Locating & Using Fuel Tank Flap Emergency Release

Now in the unforeseen circumstance that you cannot get the fuel filler cap cover open, there is an actual emergency release cord which is inside the boot or the trunk.

  • If you have a 2010-2018 Audi A1, you may find the red wire on the right side of the trunk on the far edge. You will need to look for a little cover there, and once you locate it, you will need to remove it in order to access the cord.
  • If you have a 2019-2023 Audi A1 you may discover this red cord on the right-hand side of the trunk near the interior light
  • Now what you do is you pull this and keep pulling it, and then the fuel filler cap cover will pop open

FAQ – Audi A1 Fuel

What is the Audi A1 fuel tank capacity?

The Audi A1 has a relatively small 45-liter fuel tank (9.9 gallons)

How far does it go on a single tank?

The 1.6 TDI is the most fuel-efficient model, with a rating of up to 76.3 mpg in fuel efficiency. You should be able to go 500 miles on a single gas tank, with the usual wide disparity between official and real-world estimates.

The 1.0 TFSI, the most fuel-efficient gasoline option, should be able to travel over 450 miles and even more than 500 with careful driving. The diesel variants of the A1 are more expensive, so if you rarely drive and are only looking to save money, the gasoline-powered A1 might be a better option.

So that’s how you open the fuel filler door on this Audi A1 (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 model years). Thank you so much for coming along to my site and have a great day.
