The fifth-generation CRV was officially released in Detroit for the first time in October 2016. This car begins sales in the North American market with the 2017 model in December. So did you get a maintenance warning and need to reset the oil life light on the Honda CR-V? We are here with you.
When you see on the cluster, you’re going to get the two different codes here. These stand for something like oil change and tire rotation like B1. Those will all be in your owner’s manual. Then the following number blinking is the number of miles you went over your oil change.

All right, guys, I’ve got a 2017 Honda CRV, and we’ve got the service B1 to do which is engine oil and filter change and tire rotation. We’ve performed that service, and now we’re going to go ahead and reset the maintenance minder wrench there that comes on when you do for service. So let me teach you right now.
Without stepping on the brake just push the POWER button twice
Hit the info button on the steering wheel to scroll through till we get to the wrench ?
Next, press the Enter button to select the menu and now it’s gonna show you the oil life
When you are on the Oil Life screen, hold down the ENTER button to enter the reset mode
There’s gonna let you select specific items that need to be reset if you only did part of the service or all of the service

In this section, we’re gonna reset the oil life or the maintenance minder whatever you wanna call it on the Honda CR-V. Here we will reset it using the Trip knob on the instrument cluster. So this is what you have to do:
In addition to using the method above, you can also access the menu on the infotainment display to reset the oil life. So the way you do this is:
For your info, this operation work for the fifth generation of the Honda CRV (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 model years). For the older model, you can reach it here.
A lot of people come in with an A1 maintenance light. The A1 service light is an oil change and tire rotation. What oil change does is exchanges your old oil for new oil. Now, that new oil lubricates your rotating friction parts in your engine and disperses heat for optimum engine performance of life, which keeps your engine running smooth.
A tire rotation is a process of moving your tires and wheels from one spot on the car to another. It is super important to rotate your tires because it promotes even tread wear and longer tire life. So here’s an explanation of what the maintenance minder codes mean:
There are two distinct 2017 Honda CR-V models to choose from. Regarding engine capacity, the 1.5 L 4Cylinder model has an engine that can hold 3.7 quarts, while the 2.4 L 4Cylinder has an engine that can hold up to 4.4 quarts.
For all engine types, an SAE 0W-20 viscosity completely synthetic motor oil is the best choice for lubrication. If it is not available, the SAE 5W-30 synthetic engine oil is another option.
According to the 2017 Honda CR-V service handbook, the gearbox fluid replacement period is every 30,000 miles.
So that’s it. All fixed up and ready to go. Hopefully, this helps you guys. If you liked this content and want another article with other cars like this, give me a comment below, and we’ll go from there. Thanks for reading!
