How To Reset Oil Life/Oil Change Light On Ford Escape (2013-2024)

Ford Escape is a compact all-terrain vehicle with a sporty design. This car was manufactured by Ford Motor Company in early 2001 and was presented in parallel with the Mazda Tribute. So today, I want to talk about how to reset oil life when the oil change required warning light appears on the Ford Escape.

I just finished the oil change on my Ford Escape. It’s hit about 50,000 kilometers already, and I usually change the oil every 5,000 kilometers. So let’s see what to do to reset the oil life system.

2013-2019 Ford Escape Oil Change Light Reset Procedure

So when you start up your Ford Escape, you got notice that it says oil change required? In this segment, I’ll show you how to get that to go away; it’s straightforward and only takes a couple of steps. So now I’ll walk you through it.

  1. Turn on the car but don’t start it

So with your foot off the brake push the button START button one time

  2. Depress and hold the GAS and BRAKE pedals simultaneously

Step on the brake and the gas pedal and hold it to the floor and you’ll see it’s going into service oil reset in progress

  3. Continue holding both pedals until the “Service: Oil Reset Complete” appears on the display

The oil change reminder indicator will turn off. This confirms that the reset procedure has been correctly completed

  4. Release the pedals

Once it says it’s reset then you can let off the brake and the gas pedal

  5. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset

    Done!

How does the oil life monitor work?

Did you know your vehicle can help you get the most out of your oil between changes? That’s because your car’s Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor uses the actual engine and operating conditions to calculate when you need an oil change instead of following a preset schedule.

Your car also considers your driving habits to calculate when it’s time to change the oil. Do what’s regarded as regular commuting with some highway driving. You’ll most likely need an oil change somewhere between 7,500 to 10,000 miles if you do moderate trailer towing, a lot of driving on mountainous or off-road conditions, or do a lot of extended idling, between 5,000 to 7,500 miles.

If most of your driving involves short trips in extreme hot or cold weather or trailer towing with maximum loads, your vehicle will remind you to change your oil between 3,000 to 5,000 miles. When you have a 5% oil life left in most cars, you’ll get a message telling you to change your oil soon. When you have 0% oil life left, the message will ask you to get a change now.

Once you get an oil change, remember to reset the system on your instrument panel. If you forget, your car will send you a premature message the next time. Oh, and keep in mind, if it’s been a year since your last oil change, you’ll get a reminder message regardless of your mileage.

If you have any questions or anything like that, please feel free to comment, and let me know your questions. Ok, so I look forward to seeing you at the next one. Have a great day, guys.
