Easy Way To Reset Oil Change Light On Dodge Caliber (2007-2012)
|Last Updated on October 10, 2022 by Nick
The Dodge Caliber is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system. The change oil message will flash in the dash for a few seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the following schedule. So today, let me show you how to reset the oil change light in this Dodge Caliber.
This oil change light system is duty cycle based. This means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent on your driving style. Here’s a quick note, though, unless reset; this message will continue to display each time you turn on the ignition. So stay tuned before you get into the action.

How to Reset Oil Change Light On Dodge Caliber (2007-2012)
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, today we have a Dodge Caliber. This is 2008, and once we turn it on, we’re getting a reminder to change the oil in the dash within a few seconds. It’s a simple procedure to reset this one. So the way you do this is:
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position
First, what I’m going to do is turn the key into the run position which is just one position before you start the engine
- Fully depress the GAS PEDAL slowly three times
Then you’ll go down to your GAS pedal and you’re going to press it three times slowly all the way down and that will reset that
- Verify the indicator has been reset
Once you are done with that you’ll turn your key back to the off position and then start the engine to verify that your oil change message has been reset
For your info, this operation work for the first generation of the Dodge Caliber (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 model years).
FAQ – Dodge Caliber Engine Oil
The SAE 5W-20 fully synthetic motor oil, such as that made by Liqui Moly, is the recommended oil for the 2009 Dodge Caliber’s engine. Your Caliber can run on conventional oil. However, synthetic oil provides excellent engine performance and can go longer between oil changes.
The Dodge Caliber with 2.0L and 2.4L engine comes with a standard capacity of 4.5 quarts of engine oil; this cannot be increased.
The 2008 Dodge Caliber requires 1 gallon of Prestone yellow 50/50 coolant/antifreeze. Every 60,000 miles, you should change the coolant.
So that’s the steps I take when resetting the oil change light on my 2010 Dodge Caliber. It’s a simple task, right? I hope this post was helpful, and please check out my other content. So thanks for your time and see you soon.
