Hiya! Wassup everybody. I’ve got a new toy over here that I’ve been told I’m not allowed to play with until I service my wife’s car. So this is a maintenance service light reset after an oil change on a Volvo XC60. Very basic, really quick, and you can get this done without any tool.

So I recommend if you feel capable, get in there and do it yourself. It’s cheaper, it’s easy, and you get to see what’s done with the car, and it’s a bit of fun. So stick on here. I will show you how to do it.

Resetting Maintenance Service Light on new Volvo XC60

Time needed: 3 minutes

Alright, I got a 2020 Volvo XC60, and I’m going to show you how to reset the maintenance reminder light. You’re going to end up using this minus button on the steering wheel, and you’re going to be paying attention to an i symbol that’s going to pop up on the dash. So let’s go ahead and get started.

  1. Close all doors

The first step is to make sure you have all the doors and the hood everything’s closed

  2. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

Then we’re going to go ahead and turn the START knob clockwise one time without your foot on the brake

  3. Hold down the decreasing Cruise Control (-) button while starting the car up

Now we’re going to press and hold down the minus button and then after that, we’re actually going to press the brake pedal and turn the start knob clockwise to start the car up

  4. Keep holding the – button

It might take a few seconds but continue to hold the button and we’re going to be paying attention for an i symbol to pop up on the dash

  5. Release the button

As soon as it does we are going to let go of the minus button and it will reset the maintenance reminder

For your info, this operation work for the second generation of the Volvo XC60 (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 model years). For the older model, you can reach it here.

What is the Volvo XC60 service schedule?

Your Volvo XC60 maintenance service schedule depends on several factors, such as your driving habits, where you live, and how often you commute. You should schedule regular maintenance services for your vehicle to avoid common problems. Oil changes, filter changes, and brake rotors are just a few essential components that your Volvo needs. Getting these repairs performed by a professional is a great way to maintain your vehicle and prevent problems down the road.

In addition to oil changes, your Volvo XC60 will need cabin air and engine filter replacements. It will also need to undergo a chassis check and receive the latest software updates. Other essential services include brake fluid replacement of the camshaft belt and auxiliary belt. If your vehicle is over 75,000 miles old, you should consider scheduling service at this interval.

If you don’t have the time to schedule a maintenance appointment, you can have it done by a certified Volvo dealership. They can perform various services, including chassis inspections, technical software upgrades, and cleaning the interior windscreen in front of the Intellisafe support camera. If you’re planning to take your Volvo on vacation, consider adding VIP coverage to your vehicle’s maintenance plan.
