When that happens, the TPMS sensor reset process must be done. Depending on the vehicle model you have, here are a few ways to reset the TPMS.

2007-2010 Models

Time needed: 7 minutes

If you have 2007 2008 2009 2010 GMC Yukon, you can reset the TPMS by increasing or decreasing the tire pressure without using tools. Follow these instructions to get started:

  1. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the Engine Start/Stop button without touching the brake pedal

  2. Press the VEHICLE INFORMATION button repeatedly until you see the RELEARN TIRE POSITIONS message on the display

  3. Press and hold the ✓ button to enter the relearn mode

    The horn will sound twice and the TIRE LEARNING message will appear on the screen

  4. Activate the TPMS sensor

    Start from the driver side front tire, remove the valve cap, and then increasing or decreasing the tire’s air pressure until a horn chirp sounds

  5. Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire

    A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset

  6. Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire

    The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message will disappear

  7. Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

2011-2014 Models

Unlike the previous model year, you’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in this 2011 2012 2013 2014 model years. Follow these steps to do it:

  • Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
  • Press the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter’s LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously until the horn sounds twice

  • Start from the driver side front tire, place the TPMS Relearn Tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
  • A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
  • Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
  • Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
  • Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

2015-2020 Models

Just like the previous model, you’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in this latest GMC Yukon model year. Here’s how to do it:

  • Press and holds the ENGINE START/STOP button for 5 seconds without touching the brake pedal
  • Press the ◄ navigation button to access the cluster applications

  • Scroll down to the TIRE PRESSURE menu
  • Press and hold the ✓ button to enter the relearn mode
